Information regarding the acquisition of the title of Fuera de Concurso in Colombia.
The title of Fuera de Concurso (Out of Contest) is awarded to horses who meet the following criteria:
The horse must win 12 Grade A titles, and 5 Grade B titles, must be at least 5 years old; and for stallions and mares, fertilitiy tests must be performed, or they much each have at least 2 offspring that have been DNA tested and verified to them.
Fedequinas has divided the country into 5 different geographical zones. In order to achieve the Fuera de Concurso, the horse must win in at least 3 of those zones. As soon as an animal gets 12 Grade A titles in the same zone, the horse cannot compete in that zone again, but can only perform exhibitions.
Once a horse has been declared Fuera de Concurso, they must have thier title ratified at least once a year, in order to retain the title. This is done in a competition called Ratificación de Fuera de Concurso.
In these competitions, the horse must do an individual work off, and is qualified by the judges. It must maintain the quality, and meet all of the sanitary requirements, which include health and soundness and conformation requirements. If the judges consider the animal did well, they will ratify the title. If not, they will not ratify the title. There are three of these competitions in a row. This gives the horse three opportunities to have it's title ratified. If the title is not ratified in one of these three contests, the title will be retired, and the horse will not have the opportunity to run for the title again. If there is more than one horse who is ratified in this test, they will have a competition to designate one of them to be Campeón de Campeones.

The Zones are divided by different parts of the country (these are equivalent to states), which are called departamentos.

Zone 2 : CUNDINAMARCA, HUILA Y CAQUETA ( CENTER OF COLOMBIA AND INCLUDES BOGOTA )
ZONE 3 : ANTIOQUIA, CALDAS, RISARALDA ,QUINDIO , CHOCO.( HERE WE HAVE CITIES LIKE MEDELLIN,PEREIRA,MANIZALEZ..)

ZONE 5 : SANTANDER, BOYACA AND META ( IN THE EAST ZONE AND WITH CITIES LIKE BUCARAMANGA )
This was done to make the horses complete all zones before they can be declared Grand National Champions or Fuera de Concurso. In order to receive one of these titles, the horse must compete and win in 3 of these zones.
