Which lines would you say influenced Monarca de Besilu, and in what ways?  Confo, movement...anything at all will be helpful.  Thanks!

Monarca de Besilu,  although it says Besilu, Monarca was not bred by Besilu Collection.  Monarca was bred by Mr. German Mejia from Armenia, Colombia and later on was imported to the USA.

Monarca was the sired of many good ones.....

Simbolo de Besilu, 1995 USA National Champion and World Champion

and many others...................... that have been very significant to our breed.

Does anyone have Pictures of Ginebra and La Ligia.  I am sure Monarca was also a great product of his Dam Ginebra.

We need pictures of Monarca, Contrapunto, Ligia, Pistolero and Ginebra.

A good article to read about Monarca and Simbolo is on pasopedigree:
http://www.pasopedigree.com/articles/interview-with-eduardo-pelaez/

I would read this carefully because he provides some excellent insights to the production and qualities of both horses.

Quote:
Which stallion has not fulfill your expectations?

Símbolo de Besilu, Símbolo´s race is antique, this because Contrapunto is an antique horse, and la Ginebra also is an antique mare, Monarca de Besilu´s mother, this mare is the one that is transmitting the wide legs and the fallen hips, that we see in Símbolo´s offspring.

Monarca was not like this, but Simbolo was.  When Profeta and Simbolo competed, Profeta's greatest strength was he could collect into a shorter frame, be rounder and still maintain impulse from the rear.  When it was tried with Simbolo to keep up with Profeta's performance he would fall apart in the rear.  He'd either open up or he would begin to drop his rear behind.  A trait I call dragging the rear end behind.  It was a shame on the riders' who faulted Simbolo for trying to show off and be like Profeta rather than allow Simbolo's best traits to shine through.  Simbolo's movements were more energetic, with a style Profeta did not have.  Depending on their day, it was a toss up who was better.  LOL!  Kim Palacio and I would be standing together cheering them on.  Of course I was too enthusiastic when Simbolo was at his best.  I thought he could beat Profeta on any given day.  So I think I understand when it is said Simbolo did not meet our expectations.  Simbolo was the horse Ben Leon was often heard to say when talking about Profeta that he had a better one at home.

I thought Monarca was a good example of the Contrapunto line, but I also believe his dam line strengthened this genetically.  A good quiet croup, hard to find these days because of too much Resorte IV, harmonious movements, correct, balanced, fluid, and quiet from head to rear.  All the things the Resorte IV horses need, Monarca could provide.

Monarca represented the best of all the old lines.

Thanks for sharing Candice!

Mr. Pelaez the great breeder of Vitral.............   I found one conflicting comment that I need to verify.

He mentioned the breeder of Monarca was Mr. Alejandro Urrea. I believe he got confused but I will double check the information.

I also share the same! In my opinion Contrapunto was one of the best horses I have ever seen!

Contrapunto

Thanks for the info...I had been wondering if he was a good example of getting the best from both parents.

Felix, if you could, I'd love to know who bred Monarca...that's always good to know.
