Joey won Western Pleasure last year at nationals. He is from NC.
He has been training Pasos for at least 7 or 8 years (that I remember him) maybe much longer.
He will train anything but he is primarily Pasos. (He is the one I send Diego to last winter for a couple months) He is very gentle and does great ground work. He has a good understanding of these horses.

Well the clinic was a flying success! We had about 30 people in attendance (pretty good for rural PA)
Joey brought the 2006 Western Pleasure horse with him (I got to ride him, HOW AWESOME!!!) He demonstrated many activities to keep your horse flexible and supple. He answered all questions and worked with some trouble horses. There was even an Arabian in the mix.
He stayed late and gave one on one riding lessons to anyone interested.
We were all very grateful for his time and expertise, and will definately have him back again!

Here is am more detailed account...
Joey started off by demonstrating some excersizes like moving the horses front end, and then back end, how to teach a side pass, some beginning reining. On the 2006 Western Pleasure champ (which I got to ride). That horse is amazing, he is a true testament to Joey's training skills. I am going to teahc my Diego how to spin like a reining horse. too cool!
Next he took horses one by one and worked with thier owner on whatever problem they were having. The first was a Columbian stallion who was going hollow backed, he worked with the owner on relaxing him and working him relaxed and getting a better headset so he would round his back.
The next horse was a stallion with ground personal space issues/ bella forma issues. Joey gave a great presentation on how to teach a horse to respect your personal space and stay at your shoulder and also how to train this horse for bella forma, after about 10 minutes with this horse he did not make a false step, it was great, and he did it without beatiing him (smile).
Next was a lady whos mare was hollow backed and always wanted to be at a full on largo. (the lady was pushing too much with her legs) Joey helped give her let up on the leg a little and let the mare relax and go from there.
There were about three horses there that the owner just wanted advise on what classed they would be most suited for and what they could do to fine tune them for the show ring.
After lunch Joey took some more questions, then he gave personal riding lessons to anyone interested, you could either use your horse or his.
He stayed way past 5, the time the clinic was supposed to end and I thing he even went back the next day and helped Jim (the farm owner) a little more with his horses.
This was definately one of the best clinics I have ever been to, if not the best. We will definately have Joey back again!
