Dear Members,
As I am sure you are all aware, Nationals is drawing closer and closer, and soon September 13 will be on us before we know it. Each week we will have information related to the Grand National Show on E-News. So watch for your weekly updates.
This year the PFHA is trying a new approach to the Grand National Championship Show. The 2008 Grand Nationals prize list will now be available only online, unless you were one of the few who reserved their copy of the Prize List before the April deadline. You can download the 2008 Prize List in its entirety online at www.pfha.org.
Another important message in regards to this year's 36th Annual Grand Nationals, an extra day has been added to the show schedule. All youth classes will take place the first two days of the show, on September 13th and 14th.
On-line entry for Nationals will be available for any members who are ready to start pre-entering for classes at Nationals. You can access this information online tomorrow May 28, 2008 on www.pfha.org.
We would like your feed back on some of the changes that will take place this year at Nationals. A short survey will be handed out at Nationals at check in, and we would appreciate any feedback you could give us, we can't make any changes if we don't hear from you guys!!

Upcoming Demos & Clinics
We here at PFHA were notified that the Ride Demo on May 21st, as a preview for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical ride was a huge success. Paso Fino Niagara (www.pasofinoniagara.com) and members of ECPFHA rode a series of patterns to the musical sound track of Avilla before a packed house of over two thousand spectators and the Paso Fino was received with great applause. "We hope to build on this exposure going forward," Robert Darling, V.P. of ECPFHA wrote in an email to us on May 22.
He also notified E-News that Cindy Griffeth will be in Canada on the weekend of July 5-6th to conduct a training clinic and put on a schooling show for the Region of ECPFHA. The time and location is 9am - 5pm on both days and will be held at the Niagara Regional Exhibition on Niagara Street in Welland, ONTARIO, Canada. If you are interested in this clinic please contact Robert Darling for more info at (905)892-1851 or email at rodarpasofinos@sympatico.ca.
Attention Recreational Riders
Many of you may not be aware that the Recreational Rider Committee (RRC) has a email that goes out once a month to all of our members, highlighting all the trail rides, recreational rider programs offered by the Association and also information on competitive trail rides. The Recreational Riders Committee, headed by Sue Niebling, are hoping more people out there in the Association and trail riding world will help to build awareness to the other important branches of our members in the Paso Fino Horse Association.
NOT SO SURE ABOUT THIS STORY
The bride carries her maid of honor down the aisle of her wedding a Texas man from Corpus Christi recently exchanged vows in a strange, twisted wedding. The man, William Leigh, married a Chestnut colored horse in a simple ceremony attended only by a few friends and co-workers.
As the couple was honeymooning at Churchill Downs, they could be reached for comment. Maid of honor, Marie Crystle, however, offered the following description of the nuptuals. "Well, whenever a man and a horse have a relationship, it can only lead to mare-aige. It was a beautiful beach wedding at sunset.
"Will arrived at the ceremony in his SUV, while his bride pulled a cart loaded with hay. I don't really know exactly how to describe her...she isn't really a thoroghbred or any kid of Clydesdale or quarterhorse, so I guess she's just a mutt as far as horses go."
"For her something old, she had a bridle. For her something new, she had a saddlebad. Her something borrowed was lacy saddleblanket, for the wedding night. The something blue was a ribbon in her tail. "Instead of the traditional wedding march, they played the Mister Ed theme son, "A Horse is a Horse, of course, of course." When they asked if anyone protested the wedding, someone said, "neigh." After the ceremony, we threw oats instead of rice. At the reception, instead of eating cake, she just tied on the old feedbag."
"They did dance to a few songs: Horse, Crazy Horses, A Horse with No Name, and I'm back in the Saddle Again. She has really hoofing it on that dance floor."
"William really loves that old nag. She loves him too and says that he's her mane squeeze. He told her when he proposed that he wanted to ride her off into the sunset."
