Reasons:  LACK OF TRANSPARENCY........and manipulation of information.
Pasofinoguy

say what
caliber

Yes, Dr. Bernardo Vazquez is no longer running the show............
Kerry W

I am very sorry to hear this.  It's always difficult for the members when something like this happens.  I have great faith in Fedequinas though, and I am certain that they are doing everything in their power, to ensure a smooth transition.
BigJ

OK, I need some background introduction to what Fedequinas is to the paso fino world in South America to understand the significance of the statement.
caliber

Here is a little introduction of Colombian Federation

here is some more about FEDEQUINAS

Post will be translated!
This article taken from Fedequinas Official Web-site!

Felix, do all of the associations there own farms?  I always thought that was a fantastic tool!
caliber

Yes!  each association have a Farm for base!  it is a fantastic thing to have....... everyone feels part of the family......and eliminates the homeless feeling...  jejejejejeje and each have a great working TEAM!
Kerry W

Thanks...I think I asked that, when I was gathering info, but couldn't remember to save my life. Embarassed
BigJ

So what service do the farms provide?

(notice ONE question only!)
caliber

Jejejejejeje!   Candice, I will post later on tonight a video from Crines! that will explain their function!  That way, we could all get the picture.

Each association also does great work with the community, lots of charities....  is very interesting.!

Asdesilla, also supports centers for kids!  housing 150  orphans of them!!
caliber

Candice, This is one of the many.  Associations are committed to PROMOTE and PROTECT the breed!  although the video is in Spanish!  You still can appreciate the setups....
Also, Associations are very involved with helping the community..  with charities and projects that will benefit everyone, including the breed.
Kerry W

It was my understanding that one of the main functions of the farms were as breeding facilities.  Stallions could stand at the association farms, and mare owners could have access to them in their own area, instead of having to transport the mares far from home...which could and can be a challenge.  This way, people had good access to a more diverse selection of stallions, rather than just using what was in the neighborhood.

I might have that all wrong, but that was how I understood it.
caliber

You are correct Kerry.....  The set up is very organized...  and it works!
BigJ

Thanks for the links and translations!

Another question:

If each association has a farm, do you have to be a member of that specific association to take advantage of the breeding opportunities?

I'm choking back the rest of my questions.  Looking forward to a response (please hurry, or I'll die!)
caliber

LOL!   No any one can breed to any horse at any time!   The breeding is arranged by the veterinarian Presenting that horse.

Is a great system, but is not a Socialism!  jejejejejejejejejejejejje
BigJ

Interesting.

So back to the resignation...what was Dr. Bernardo Vazquez trying to control?  Did he have interest/investment in horses in association farms?

I know that's two questions at once, but they are sorta related.
caliber

As far as I know, no he did not.
caliber

Fedequinas had suspended horses, riders and trainers due to doping. Fedequinas presented the owners with the evidence of the results,  when owners verified the information with the Labs and the University involved, there was no records of such tests ever being verified nor presented.

The letters from the Labs and the University was made public, stating NO SUCH RECORDS  contradicting Dr. Vazquez statement. All Associations under the umbrella of the Federation (Fedequinas) requested an emergency meeting this past Monday, in which Dr. Bernardo Vazquez, voluntary resigned.

Is Dr. Vazquez guilty? we don't know yet, until the investigation is completed. But, since Dr. Vazquez, was the Executive Director of the Federation, he assume the responsibility and took the blame.

Fedequinas also announced, that everything will be posted on their web-site.

Dr. Vazquez has been the leader of FEDEQUINAS for many years. Fedequinas is a respected FEDERATION and thanks to all the efforts and hard work from Dr. Vazquez.  I am sure all this mess will be cleared, but I dough Dr. Vazquez is responsible for any of the allegations.....

I am sure there is the other side of the coin!  in the mean time we will wait..... for further notices.
BigJ

Confused  Confused

This is disconcerting.

So, does the Fedequinas Executive Director have similar discretionary powers as the PFHA ED?

The reason I ask is given the current circumstances with our own ED.  If you read the rules of PFHA, the ED is given allot of power without much requirement to explain or justify the action nor to provide the BOD with much feedback.

If the Fedequinas ED acted without proof and/or authority even if he thought he was acting in the best interest of the breed, it seems he overstep the boundaries of due process.  This reflects poorly on horses, owners and trainers when falsley assumed guilty.

I'm wondering if Fedequinas has better stop-gap measures than PFHA.  PFHA continues to be steered by a BOD that is uncomfortable with confrontation creating weak rules with lots of loops holes for individual interpretation encouraging little kings to build up their own kingdom of power.

Hmm, you know PR had a president step down because of accusations of horse doping...
caliber

Fedeqinas in Colombia is more like USEF here!  (not exactly the same)

The responsibility of Fedequinas is much greater than the PFHA...... to begin with, FEDEQUINAS DO PROMOTE THE BREED.

Candice, I don't see how can anyone be accounted for something that is not up to them......   Dr. Vazquez is The CEO, he is not a Lab Tech.  Also, I find very strange that letters where presented to the public, instead of contacting Fedequinas first.....  I don't know!   something is not making sense here.!

What Dr. Bernardo Vazquez has done for this breed, I don't know anyone else that has don it............  he has represented The CCC at all times, with knowledge, respect and dedication, Nationally and Internationally. AMEN!
BigJ

OK, thanks for taking the time to explain this to me.

So, it is possible that Dr. Vazquez had no direct knowlege of the evidence and may have relied on other Fedequinas directors/officers?

The PR Prez, fought his allegations it court I think.  He was forced to resign amid allegations.  Some think the accusations were false and some think if his horses were doped, he was setup.   Apparently he was making some positive changes a few powers didn't like.
