***Both pictures in this article are of Faith, a 3 year old mare. Faith was kept in a backyard in a 12x12 dog pen, slowly wasting away.A neighbor noticed that faith wasn't being fed or taken care of properly so she tried to feed her. The owner charged her $50 to buy her. The kind neighbor, being on a strict budget, dug up the money and took her. She quickly realized although she was trying to do the right thing, she just couldn't take care of her. The neighbor called us and that's how we got Faith. Faith holds a special place in our hearts. We thought we were going to lose her. She's beautiful inside and out. Faith is very leery of humans and has trust issues, but she's doing much better. She is a 3 year old breeding stock paint. It will take a good 8 months to get Faith were she needs to be mentally and physically before she goes to her new home. Faith will have to choose her person as we think she will be a one person horse.***

About the Three Phase Event, Inc.
The Three Phase Event for gaited horses is an equine versatility event for seasoned trail and show horses that do not jump, but demonstrate their versatility in dressage, a set stadium obstacle course and a 3 to 5 mile cross country course which demands stamina and willingness to meet field challenges.
The second annual national gaited horse event held at the new Kentucky Equestrian Center, 850 Kiddville Road, Winchester, KY, is just off the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway was a huge success. The event was host to nine different registered gaited breeds this year: Mountain Pleasure, Rocky Mountain, Kentucky Mountain, the McCurdy Plantation, the Tennessee Walker, the gaited Arabian, and the American Saddlebred. A special division for non racing Thoroughbreds was also added. The soft gaited horse is bred to have a four beat gait at the intermediate speed where other horses trot. All the horses who attended the event in the gaited divisions, demonstrated their bred distinctions of this gait. It was exciting to watch these varied horse and rider teams. The Three Phase Event organizers have developed this national championship that focus on the individual horse and rider teams. Because of this the competitors, while competing for the individual and overall titles and prize money, enjoy the camaraderie of their fellow competitors without the head to head competition found in a group, round ring event.
Whether in the stadium obstacle course, the dressage arena, or the cross country course, these equestrian teams' only focus are on how well they perform together to accomplish the challenge before them. At the end of the day, that is what horseback riding is all about, either on the trail or in a show venue.
The Three Phase Event will be hosting another competition to raise money for their educational scholarships for those attending institutes of higher learning and related trade schools of equine programs such as farrier and dental schools. This competition is open to all breeds of gaited horses, including the Paso Fino. You can visit the Three Phase Event website at http://threephaseevent.org/index.htm for additional information.
