Here is a link to information about a genetic crisis that is being reported by the Corolla Wild Horse Fund, about the horses they manage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
I thought some of you might be interested...be sure to check out the Genetic Diversity Report (.pdf file at the top of the page), if you're into statistical data about the relationships between these wild horses and the domestic horse population.

I'm elated. The dendograms are something that's new to me and I'm still learning how to interpret them.
What fascinates me still is how genetically diverse our breed is. I believe it is one of the greatest if not the greatest advantage we have for the general health. We have our issues, no doubt, but compared to what QH and TB, now Friesians suffer with, we are in good shape. I truly believe we could easily breed out our worst problems if we so choose.
